Then, in the latter part of 1990s, she started to act and dance professionally at Boulder's Dinner Theatre and Country Dinner Playhouse. She then moved to an area theatre in Minnesota which was where she got her first role in a documentary mock-up about beauty pageants Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). She also raised Kelly Curtis, Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh, who was introduced to her through the actress Norma Shearer Leigh signed a deal with MGM to start her film career actor in the latter half of the 1940s. Leigh appeared in a variety of popular movies in the subsequent decade including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) and Living It Up (a Martin and Lewis film from 1954).
